Last December, Desiree and her family embarked on her wish to go to New York City. Desiree, only 6-years-old, has been battling leukemia. Her trip to the Big Apple was a welcomed escape from her day-to-day treatments. After arriving at the JFK airport, Desiree and her entourage – Mom, Step-dad, and three brothers – checked into their hotel and immediately started seeing all of the sights.
During their week stay in New York they visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the American Museum of Natural History and of course, the American Girl Place. At the famous American Girl Place, Desiree was greeted by a personal shopper and everyone dined at the American Girl Café to rest up after a long day of shopping.
A trip to New York City would not be complete without experiencing an afternoon in Central Park, Desiree and her family thoroughly enjoyed the Central Park Wildlife Conservation Center as well. Since this Wish Trip was so close to the holidays, Desiree’s family was even able to see the Rockettes perform live during the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Desiree will have plenty of memories of bright lights and the big city to remember for years to come.
