Internship Cycles:
  • Fall: Late August - Mid December (applications accepted June-July)
  • Spring: Early January - Mid May (applications accepted September-October)
  • Summer: Mid May - Mid August (applications accepted February-March)

Candidates are asked to commit to a schedule for the duration of the internship and are expected to work between 12-20 hours a week. Make-A-Wish is open M-F 8am-5pm. Internship are unpaid.

Available Internships

  • Program Services Intern (Orlando office only):

    The intern will work with the program team with projects centered on fulfillment on the Make-A-Wish mission. Tasks will include, but are not limited to: processing wish paperwork, researching vendors/donors for wishes, assisting with the planning and execution of the wish, working with wish granting volunteers, writing wish stories, medical outreach, volunteer recruitment and volunteer training preparations. The ideal intern should be an energetic individual with good communication skills and strong attention to detail. This is a fast-paced environment where the ability to multi-task is essential.

  • Special Events/Development Intern (Orlando, Tampa and Sarasota):

    The intern will experience several aspects of working with development at a nonprofit. Their tasks will include, but are not limited to: researching potential sponsors, cultivating current donor relationships, preparing and sending out sponsorship packages, media relations, public speaking , soliciting auction items, marketing events, learning new software programs, layout and design, organizing volunteer schedules for day of events, donor recognition, serving on event committees, assisting with special events, maintaining files and calendar of events. The ideal intern should be an energetic individual with good communication skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Accounting/Stewardship Intern (Orlando Office- Spring Semester):

    The intern will assist the accounting team with general accounting functions including accounts payable, in-kind gift entry in Raiser's Edge, monthly closes, updates to donor database, stewardship event details and prepare tribute letters and recognition pieces for donors. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
